Our facility will be extending its regular business hours on certain days during the summer operating period.
We hope you will take this opportunity to visit the Sapporo Mount Moiwa Ropeway.

Extended business hours

  • Golden Week period: May 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th
     
  • Saturdays, Sundays, and some public holidays in August: August 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 17th, and 18th
     
  • Obon period: August 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th

Opening times

  • Ropeway 10:30-22:30 (last upbound at 22:00)
     
  • Tourist Road 10:30-22:30 (last upbound 21:50)
     
  • Mt. MOIWA SOUVENIR SHOP 10:30~22:00
  • The mountaintop restaurant "THE JEWELS" will close at 9pm as usual.
  • We also serve lunch on weekends and holidays (11:30-14:30 / last order 13:30).
  • Please note that depending on congestion, the ropeway may not arrive at the base station in time for the last tram heading towards Odori (around 22:53).

[Important] Notice regarding the departure time of the last ropeway up

Thank you for always using the Sapporo Mount Moiwa Ropeway.

We will provide information to customers who are considering visiting during the night view hours.

The last ropeway trip up is at 21:30.
Ticket gates will open at approximately 21:28 and the train departs from Sanroku Station at 21:30, so please come with plenty of time to complete your ticket purchase by around 21:25 .

In addition, if you take the last upbound bus (21:30), your time at the summit observation deck will be approximately 5 minutes.
We recommend that you arrive a little earlier so that you can enjoy the night view at your leisure.

[Important] Notice of cancellation of special New Year's Day service and New Year's holiday closure

Thank you for using the Sapporo Mt. Moiwa Ropeway.

We have decided to discontinue our annual New Year's special service as detailed below.
We would also like to inform you that the entire facility will be closed for two days during the New Year's holiday (New Year's Eve and New Year's Day) .

The New Year's special service, which has been enjoyed by many customers for many years, will be discontinued from 2026 in light of recent changes in traffic conditions and social conditions. We appreciate your understanding.

[Year-end and New Year holiday period]

Two days: Wednesday, December 31, 2025 and Thursday, January 1, 2026

During this period, all facilities, including the ropeway, will be closed.
We will be open until Tuesday, December 30th, 2025, and will resume normal business hours from 11:00am to 10:00pm from Friday, January 2nd, 2026.

[Event] Moris Festa Mini

Starting in October 2025, we will be holding a mini event called "Morris Festa Mini" twice a month where you can meet Moris!!

Mt. Moiwa's mascot character, "Morisu," will appear at the mid-mountain station and hold a mini-game and photo session that anyone can participate in.
The winner of the mini-game will receive an original novelty item exclusive to participants of "Morris Festa Mini."
Even if you don't win the mini-game, those who participate in the photo session will receive a photo taken with an Instax camera and an original photo frame exclusive to visitors!
*One Instax photo and photo frame will be given per group.

[Important] Final operation of the Moiwa Sightseeing Expressway this year

The Mt. Moiwa Sightseeing Expressway will close for the current fiscal year on Thursday, November 20, 2025. The Nature Learning Trail will also close for the current fiscal year on Thursday, November 20. (Please note that the closing date may be earlier depending on snow conditions.)

*Due to snow accumulation and frozen roads, the tourist road and nature trails have closed for this year. (11/19 9:00)

We are planning to reopen next year around late April 2026. We will announce the reopening date on our website. Please note that the ropeway will open at 11:00 in winter (December to March).

Notice of reopening of mini cable car following restoration

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support of the Sapporo Moiwa Ropeway.

Due to a malfunction in the mini cable car equipment (strange noises coming from the machine room), the entire facility has been closed since Sunday, October 12, 2025. However, restoration work has now been completed, and we have confirmed that the noises have been resolved and the facility is now operating safely.

Therefore, we will resume normal business operations throughout the entire building from Friday, October 17, 2025 .

We would like to once again offer our deepest apologies for the inconvenience and trouble caused to our customers during our closure.

[Updated 10/15] Notice of temporary closure due to malfunction of mini cable car facilities

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support of the Sapporo Mt. Moiwa Ropeway.

Due to a malfunction in the mini cable car equipment (strange noises coming from the machine room), the entire facility, including the ropeway and Moiwa Mountain Tourist Expressway, was closed from Sunday, October 12th to Wednesday, October 15th, 2025. However, as the cause has not yet been determined and further investigation, including disassembly and inspection of the machinery, will take time , the entire facility will remain closed for the time being.

We will announce the expected date for resuming business on our official website as soon as we know.

We are continuing to investigate the cause, but as it will take time to restore service, the entire facility, including the ropeway and Mt. Moiwa Tourist Expressway, will be closed from today, October 12th (Sunday) until the 15th (Wednesday).

We will inform you as soon as possible about the expected date for the mini cable car to resume operations.

[Reopening of business] Notice of resumption of normal business following restoration of mini cable car

Thank you for using the Sapporo Mount Moiwa Ropeway.

Due to a malfunction of the mini cable car's reducer that occurred on Sunday, July 20th, 2025, we have been operating ropeways and other services on a reduced schedule, and have been providing alternative transportation between the mid-mountain station and the summit station by microbus. However, we have now completed the restoration of the mini cable car and have confirmed that it can be operated safely, so we will resume normal operations throughout the facility from Friday, August 22nd, 2025.

We would like to once again offer our deepest apologies to our customers for the great concern and inconvenience caused.

In addition, we will resume sales of "Annual Passports" and "Advance Purchase Upbound Priority Boarding Advance Tickets," which had been discontinued due to the reopening of business, so we look forward to your patronage.

Notice of cancellation of this year's "Dance High in the Sky! Mt. Moiwa Bon Odori," which was held for the first time last year

Due to mechanical failure of the mini cable car, there is no prospect of it resuming normal operations.

We were aiming to hold the "Dance High in the Sky! Mt. Moiwa Bon Odori" again this year, which was well received by many visitors when it was first held last year, and were proceeding with preparations for the event to be held on Saturday, September 6th. However, due to a mechanical malfunction of the mini cable car that occurred on Sunday, July 20th, we are unable to predict when normal operations will resume, so unfortunately we have decided to cancel the event.

We deeply apologize to everyone who was looking forward to this event and to all those involved.
